Julia Weinert is a seasoned public health and policy professional with over 15 years of experience leading cross-sector initiatives to advance health and economic equity. She joins the MSHIELD Collaborative Quality Initiative as Program Manager, where she will guide statewide efforts to embed health equity principles in quality improvement strategies and strengthen connections between healthcare and social service systems. Prior to MSHIELD, she served as Managing Director of Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan, where she played a foundational role in launching and scaling the initiative’s action-based research agenda. Julia also directed the Detroit Community-Academic Urban Research Center, fostering community-driven collaborations to reduce health disparities. Her career spans roles in research, evaluation, and policy at organizations such as ChangeLab Solutions and Kaiser Permanente. She holds a B.S. in Microbiology and an MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan.
In her spare time, Julia enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, is an avid ultimate frisbee player, loves practicing yoga, and seeks out opportunities to do all of the above while exploring new corners of the world.
